Boyd County VINELink Coverage
VINE stands for Victim Information and Notification Everyday. Kentucky's service pulls custody data from jail booking systems. Prisons and certain correctional and mental-health systems are covered too. It then sends automated notices to victims and other concerned people. The service costs nothing.
Kentucky's Attorney General describes the coverage as local jail inmates plus adult correctional facilities. The static state pages, though, never name the Boyd County Detention Center or promise that every Boyd booking gets exported. Run a live Kentucky search. Read the facility shown on the returned record. Call VINE or the jail if anything is unclear.
VINE works best after someone has already entered a covered system. For a fresh local intake, the Boyd County Cadmus roster is the right tool. CourtNet handles case outcomes, and KOOL covers detailed state offender lookups.
Search Kentucky VINE Records
Start at VINELink and pick Kentucky before typing a name. The state FAQ allows a partial name or an offender ID. Enter enough detail to separate two people with similar names, and read the facility on the result instead of assuming a Boyd County match.
- Open VINELink and select Kentucky.
- Choose Find an Offender.
- Enter a partial name or offender ID in the fields offered.
- Compare possible matches by identifier, facility, and status.
- Open only the correct record and note when the information was checked.
- If both local-jail and DOC records exist, review both and register for both when needed.
An empty result does not mean the person is free. Spelling errors, transfers, delayed data, or nonparticipation can all hide a record. So can an uncovered custody type. Call 1-800-511-1670 for Kentucky VINE search or registration help when a result will not resolve. The VINELink Kentucky search screen shows the state selection and the offender-search controls.
The interface is designed for a named-person check, not browsing groups of booking photographs.
Boyd VINELink Result Fields
The display differs from record to record. Kentucky materials describe custody status plus current institution contact or location details where available. A result may also list an offender ID and status or release information. Trust only what the current result actually states.
| Result item | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| Name | Match carefully with an identifier; a name alone is not enough. |
| Offender ID | A stronger key for the selected VINE record. |
| Custody status | The reported state in the covered source, subject to data timing. |
| Facility | The reported holding institution, which may not be Boyd County. |
| Facility contact | Official contact details when supplied by the record. |
| Release or status details | Information varies and may change as the agency updates VINE. |
VINE says nothing about the criminal case itself. A disposition is the court's recorded outcome, whether dismissal, acquittal, plea, or conviction. The custody record answers one question only: where the person is held right now.
Register Boyd Custody Alerts
With the right record open, choose Notify Me of Status Changes. Kentucky supports alerts by phone, text, email, app, TTY, and other methods described in its current materials. The exact options depend on the registration channel and the record.
- Confirm that the result belongs to the intended person and shows the expected facility.
- Select the notification option on that result.
- Choose a phone number, email address, text route, app, or TTY option that can be monitored.
- Create and securely retain the four-digit PIN for telephone alerts.
- Complete the confirmation steps shown by the system.
- Register for both local and DOC records if the person has separate records in each system.
The PIN proves a phone notice reached the right person. Kentucky says calls may keep repeating for 24 hours. They continue until that PIN is entered. Registrants can add multiple phone numbers and email addresses. The person in custody is never told who signed up. A lost PIN can be fixed through Edit Your Registration or a support call.
Kentucky VINE Alert Rules
The official Kentucky VINE information page explains statewide local-jail deployment and automated notifications.
The state source sets the service model; only a live search can confirm a specific Boyd record. The official VINE FAQ walks through the search mechanics. It also explains why someone with both local and DOC records may need two registrations.
That dual-registration rule matters most when custody moves from the Boyd jail into the state system.
When Boyd VINE Calls
VINE's real value is the alert that follows a custody change. Depending on the record and coverage, that could mean release, transfer, escape, parole, or another status event. No alert system promises real-time delivery of every event. Keep contact details current, and lean on more than one alert method when personal safety is involved. Kentucky lists 502-564-5061 and 877-687-6818 for victim services, with TTY at 1-866-847-1298; search and registration help is 1-800-511-1670.
Question: Will the person know who registered? Kentucky states the offender is not told. Guard the registration details anyway, especially the telephone PIN.
Boyd VINELink Limits and Checks
A new arrest often reaches Cadmus before VINE does. For a booking processed in Boyd County within hours, check the official jail website. Use its Current Inmates handoff too. The jail holds pretrial detainees, county-sentenced people, and some state inmates. Read the facility label and custody stage closely.
After a release, the roster entry may vanish. A VINE notice and the court case still matter. Once a Kentucky state sentence begins, KOOL becomes the better tool. A DOC VINE record helps too. Need an old booking record? Request it from the detention center's custodian instead of an alert history.
Federal Custody Uses Other Locators
Federal custody sits on a separate track from the Boyd County Detention Center. FCI Ashland is one reason. Sort that out before searching. For anyone held by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, one tool stands out. The BOP Inmate Locator is the right one. Immigration cases work differently. The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers those detainees. It has its own search fields and slower updates.
Neither federal system offers a public booking-photo gallery. A name missing from Boyd Cadmus or Kentucky VINE does not rule out federal custody. Pin down the likely holding authority first, then search that locator directly.
Custody Status Is Not Guilt
VINE reports custody data only. It tracks whether a person is held, not the charges or the court outcome that follows.
For a fresh arrest, start with Boyd County 24 Hour Arrests and its same-day fallback path. The full county-wide record hierarchy sits back on the Boyd County recent arrests page.
